Avant Garde Hamlet at Columbia

Only a week after returning from the Adirondack Shakespeare Company's Spring Season, I found myself in rehearsals for a 15 minute avant grade version of Hamlet with Columbia MFA Theatre Directing student Rory McGregor.

The process was wonderfully collaborative; and getting to add so much dimension to Ophelia was a dream. After just 9 hours of rehearsal, the end result was an exploration of the sexual exploitation of Ophelia and Gertrude. But in the end, let's just say that we gave a whole new meaning to the term "feminine ending".

Many thanks to Michael Silberblatt (Hamlet), Samantha Blinn (Gertrude), David Levesley (Claudius) and of course, Rory, for a wild ride!
